Making New Friends When You Are Of The Baby Boomer Generation

Making friends when you are an adult is much more difficult than it is when you are young. There are many reasons for this. If you are a baby boomer or older be sure to cherish the friends you have; it would not be easy to replace them. Her are some things to think about if you are trying to make new friends and you are at an age where you need glasses to read the fine print:

  • The best way to meet people when you are older is to join a group where the people have similar interests to those of yours. This way you will be starting off a friendship with someone new by already having something major in common.
  • When you are older you do not need as many friends. This is just my opinion, but I believe that the vast majority of younger people spend more time with friends because they are in the process of figuring out who they are and what direction they want to take during their adult life. Older people are more set in their ways and already know their likes and dislikes.
  • You have different priorities when you are older. Therefore, when you take on a friend as an older adult you will typically spend time together in a very different way than you did when you were younger.

Friends are a valuable asset and deserve to be treated as such. It is said that no man is poor when he has friends. If you are fortunate enough to have a true friend, respect them and show them how much you care.
