Kathleen Casey-Kirschling is a baby boomer that made history today.

Casey-Kirschling, who was born one second after midnight on January 01, 1946 received her first social security payment today.

The 62-year-old retired teacher who lives in Earleville, Maryland, and Vero Beach, applied for her social security benefits online and received her first payment by direct deposit today.

Because she has elected to receive her social security benefits by direct deposit, this baby boomer is being called a “trend-setter” for her generation.

Over the next twenty years, almost 10,000 baby boomers a day will become eligible to receive social security.

In case you were wondering about the math - that translates into 400 people an hour!

If everything stays the same as it is right now, in 2041 the Social Security trust fund is predicted to deplete its reserves.
