Anti-aging - The Amazing New Drive To Stay Alive Campaign

Anti-aging programs cover many topics but what you’re about to read is news to me. Drive to Stay Alive campaigns are usually focussed on the young. This one targets the Young at 60. There are three good reasons why you should Drive to Stay Alive .1. Driving Helps You Stay Young at Heart By Maintaining Independent Mobility. You should be ready to defend yourself against members of family who advise you to give up driving because it’s supposedly not safe for you any more.

The truth in this matter is often times, even in my own family, the reason for this advice is that the younger ones want your car. One of the saddest days of my life was when my younger brother talked my 70 year old Mum into giving up driving because he had a work mate who needed a car.

Mum paid a heavy price. She could no longer drive herself to Church, or shopping, or to visit friends. She lost her independent mobility. My sincere hope is you will not lose yours. Hang on to your independent mobility and keep driving as long as you can. This is one of the most effective ways to maintain your own anti-aging program.

2. Driving Helps Your Anti-aging Program By Enabling You To Help Others. In our city we have a Meals on Wheels service. Some of the volunteer deliverers are 85 plus and they are meeting the needs of men and women many years younger than them.

There is a common view they stay younger because they keep a sense of being able to help others. Helping others by delivering their meals is an important task and the benefit volunteers get from their unpaid work shows in the shine on their faces. They shine because they are hanging on to their real feeling of still belonging to their community. Read more

Those Were the Days

rememberwhen.jpgRemember when……………… Come now it can’t be all that long ago. We were all young once upon a time.

What I am referencing to is Remember when we first got married (I am aware that some did it more than once)

How we used to do all those little things and actually got a thrill out of it. For instance …………… Going for a walk and holding hands, or with our arms wrapped around each others waist. Read more

Are You Ready to Discover How the Baby Boomer Generation Have IT All?

The have it all baby boomer generation.

The baby boomer generation really are the blessed group. Born post second world war they are now approaching retirement age. It’s well documented that the baby boomers worked through a great period of opportunity and prosperity. They had it all!

In the 1980-90’s there was a glut of downsizing and many of those born before the baby boomers were faced with early retirement. They had little chance to do any retirement planning. It did not happen to me as I had started my own business, but I have many friends who were so affected.

I have seen these people, some of whom held high positions deteriorate dramatically. They look and behave older than their years.

My belief is that lack of stimulation through active work and involvement with others has led to this state of affairs. It saddens me. However all appears not to be lost. There is now an active policy on the part of some businesses to employ older workers. Ageism is out. No doubt some of the early retirees will be able to benefit.

But guess who the real beneficiaries will be? Do you get the drift?

It will be the baby boomers. It is now common place to hear of or read about people in their late 50’s and early 60’s retiring from their main profession and gaining further employment in a lesser occupation and possibly on a part time basis. They’re the clever ones doing their retirement planning.

This is fine. All that accumulated experience should continue to be put to good use and not wasted as with the previous generation. There is one key proviso; this should not affect opportunity for those starting their careers. Let’s hope our political masters are able to keep the world economy growing.

As in many cases these leaders are the baby boomers they will surely succeed in that task! Read more

Are you 50 years of age or older? Are you, or have you ever been employed by a company, that indicated that if you stayed with them that you could retire with full benefits to include medical insurance?

How close are you to being one paycheck away from hard times?

Is it possible that you can even Google your situation to come with an answer to your money problems?

Are you like more than a million layed off workers and retires who are a casualty of corporate restricting and Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

Will you be working long into your Golden Years?

Correspondent Hedrick Smith explored the changing world of retirement and discovered that corporations in America are dumping their old-fashioned pensions (retirement systems). It was said that a lot of people 50 years of age, and above, are really going to have a very nasty surprise in about the next 10 years. If you think about it, the Word Retirement, will just be a work not an Action. How many of you have seen somebody retirement age working at McDonald’s or Burger King? Now, do you think their retirement goals are to super size fries. They are there because they have to not because they want to be there. It was also said “I think this is a crisis in the making. I think 10 to 15 years from now; people who approach their early 60s are simply not going to have enough money to retire. Read more
